We had a great time photographing the beautiful landscapes of Iceland this September. Through the process, we laughed, we cried, and we spent 5 nights sleeping inside of Truck Norris. What the heck is Truck Norris? Scroll through the images to find out.

Speaking of which, did you know that Chuck Norris sleeps with a night lite. Not because he is afraid of the dark, but because the dark is afraid of Chuck Norris? True story, look it up.

  1. I appreciate the map. I bookmark this page for reference in case I get the chance to do a dream photo trip to Iceland one year.

  2. Love your photos!

  3. i love your photography very much. you should come to india, you will definately love this place.

  4. Hey Eli,

Looks like an awesome trip. I was in Iceland last June and that watefall you can walk behind was really high on my list of things to see. Then when i was on the plane out I realised i managed not to find it! Even though I think I visited every other major waterfall in iceland!

I’ve decided I’m going to spend all of June in Iceland next year and want to do it on the cheap. There’s two of us who were planning getting the cheapest car we could and then camping so we could just stop whenever we felt like it and not have to get back to a hostel. But, those Kuku Campers look like an awesome option!

Last time I was there I spent a ton of money on gas (had a jeep wrangler) so i’m wondering what sort of gas mileage those campers get. Can you fill me in?

Also, what would you think about sleeping in one of them for a month?

    Thanks,

    Johnny

    • Hi Johnny,

Sounds great. An entire month in Iceland is the way to go, especially in June with the midnight sun.

As far as sleeping in a Kuku camper for a month, I think it’s totally doable if you plan every 3-4th night to be in a bed and breakfast. Keep in mind that Kuku campers are awesome but they’re also a “no frills” sort of deal. The campers are stripped down to the essentials where other companies offer more expensive, yet more comfortable options for long term camping.

Gas on the other hand is very expensive in Iceland and any camper size vehicle will cost quite a bit if you plan on circling the Island. That’s something else to keep in mind.

      I hope that helps!

      • Thanks mate, I circled the island in a week last time. This time I’m more interested in spending a week in the Westfjords, then spending the rest of the time in South and East Iceland. The last trip was a whirlwind tour. This time I want to park up and spend a few days in each location and get to know it. I was thinking an occasional stop in a guesthouse would probably be a must! There were a couple I was pretty fond of and would like to pay another visit.

How’d you do with finding showers? Kuku campers offers a lot of interesting maps. I reckon they need one outlining all the public showers in Iceland.

I read your article on Air BnB. I used them for the first time in Reykjavik. I reckon it woud’ve suited you. The guy had a massive proper espresso maker in his kitchen. I don’t share your fondness for coffee but my girlfriend does and she was thrilled. I woke up after a week-with-no-sleep induced coma to find her wired having been up for four hours before me!

        • Oh, an espresso machine? Nice. I’m sure I would have been all jacked up as well. :)

That sounds like a good plan for the month. Since you’ve already had the grand tour, it should be easy for you to plot out the destinations most important to you. As far as showers go, most of the free campgrounds in the South had showers. Some of them didn’t have hot water though, and the temp was very close to 0 while we were there, so that can be an issue. The best option is checking out the baths. Quite a few of them had great pool, gym, and shower facilities that were fairly cheap for the day.

  5. Thank you for sharing Elia ! Lovely Maps and I bookmark this page for reference for trip to Iceland for March 2013.
